Pedro has always believed that the best way to make a difference in the world is to be active in the community. Miami is a place where everything is new and if you decide to participate and be active, a person can really make a difference, can really make a positive, long-lasting impact.
The Rhythm Foundation
Pedro is the Board President of the Rhythm Foundation, a Miami based non-profit whose mission is to promote cultural awareness and international exchange through the presentation of live music. Special focus is given to those cultures connecting to South Florida audiences – music from Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe. We believe that we can build and strengthen diverse South Florida communities through the shared cultural experience of music.

The Cuban Research Institute
Pedro’s is proud of his Cuban heritage and is a member of the Community Advisory Board of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University. The CRI is dedicated to creating and disseminating knowledge about Cuba and its diaspora. The institute encourages original research and interdisciplinary teaching, organizes extracurricular activities, collaborates with other academic units working in Cuban and Cuban-American studies, and promotes the development of library holdings and collections on Cuba and its diaspora.

FILMGATE MIAMI
Pedro sits on the Board of Directors of FilmGate Miami, a not-for-profit film organization that empowers actors, writers, and independent filmmakers in South Florida. Its goal is to bring audiences and creators together through content creation, screenings, and educational events, that benefit Miami and South Florida. FilmGate connects South Florida’s creative community to each other and to its audience through regular screenings, educational programs, workshops, destination creative labs, and networking events. It is an organization that exists to empower South Florida storytellers so that they can tell South Florida stories. Pedro is the author of more than a dozen screenplays, many short stores, two unpublished novels, and one published book. He is very excited to be a part of the FilmGate community.
